The Big Move

Truth be told, moving is not my favorite thing! Packing takes way longer than you think it will and just when you think you are done you find another stash of stuff to be boxed up. Then comes the lugging boxes, unpacking and trying to get organized (I am still in that third stage). Maybe if we move again I will have won the lottery and can hire someone to do it all for me :-) Thankfully, we have an amazing family and friends who gave us so much help. We definitely couldn't have done it without them!!!
Possibly the most notable part of the move was the return of the couch curse! When we moved into our townhouse we had a major problem getting our couch into the basement. It got stuck where the stairs turn and we ended up having to cut the bottom support of the couch so that it would bend (we left that couch in the basement for Matt and Kara, no way we wanted to move it again!). I guess that we forgot the history often repeats itself because we didn't think twice about getting our couches into the basement this time, unfortunately the curse followed us and our couch was too tall to make the turn at the bottom of the stairs! At least this time it was an old couch in not great condition so we saved ourselves some stress (and tears on my part) and just lugged it back up the stairs and into my brother-in-laws truck to be dropped off at the DI. Note to self: if we move again measure all couches and stairways!!!
So far things are going great! We miss our old house and friends but so far we love the new neighborhood and everyone int he ward seems really nice. Dan hasn't' gotten to take full advantage of the two car garage yet since it is still full of stuff but he did enjoy his first lawn mowing and so far the garbage can has totally lived up to my expectations! I promise more pictures of the new house are coming as soon as it is a bit more put together!

With your story about the downstairs sofa, I thought you were leading into a comment of having to cut the new sofas being deliverd. So glad that wasn't the case. I felt bad for your loss of the other sofa though. Hope that the DI solution was approved through you first. ;) I can't wait to see the new place when you get it all put together.

we have the same couch issue. we'd like new couches in the basement but can't move out the old one without ripping apart our walls again! :( glad you are all moved in and doing well!
