Everybody's Doing It
Blogstalking. It seems like everyone I know who blogs, and quite a few who don't, blogstalk. I do it quite excessively at times :) Most of my stalkee's are people I know through one degree of separation so I feel a little less creepy about it although Dan thinks that I am totally nuts. And there are times when I think he is right, at least three times I have seen people in public places that I "know" from their blogs and have had to restrain myself from saying hello to maintain my facade as a person who is not crazy! Although I stalk multiple blogs on a semi-regular basis (or just when none of my real friends have updated) there are two blogs that I love to read. One of them (Kate) I have at least met in real life twice so it is only semi-stalking but he other is just a friend of a friend. Both of these women are so witty and give me much needed laughs and I fear that they will decide to go private. So my question to all you bloggers out there is this...since pretty much everyone is a blogstaker to some degree, does that make it less creepy if I comment on their hilarious posts? How would you feel if someone you didn't know, or who was a friend of a friend commented on your blog? And if their is anyone stalking me (not likely, my blog is not witty and mostly just bragging about my kids) let me know...maybe it will be the start of a great friendship, or at least a blogstalking anonymous group!

haha. Everybody does it. I've had people I don't know comment on my blog. I actually don't mind it. If it's not private you have to expect people you don't know are going to see it.
Alright, I am guilty. I am best friends with Becky and Katie and grew up knowing the Miles family. I go to peoples blogs when none of my friends have updated. I have checked you blog and have to comment since I can relate. I ran into someone at Cafe Rio and only know her from a friend of a friends blog and I felt rude for not saying "hi" and then had to remind myself that she has no clue who I am yet I knew her husband and her kids names....tad bit creepy but so funny! I hate it when I blog I am stalking goes private! Hope I am not creepy for commenting :)
Yes I am another stalker :) But I think if you leave a comment just let them know who you are and kind of how you found their blog, maybe?
LOL, Liz.... you're hilarious for posting this. It's true... everyone does it, so why do I have a private blog, I don't know... what's the big deal? Maybe it's because I haven't even invited my own husband to "our" blog.

What's missing from your post is a list of blogs you stalk so we can stalk too!
I'm so relieved to know that others "stalk". I do it, too. One blog that I particularly enjoying stalking has now gone private and I'm scared to death that she knows I stalk her.
I love it Liz! And I agree, it would be nice to know who the "stalkers" are and how they came across your blog. And I've been known to be a blog stalker a time or two as well.
I read the blogs of the siblings of the guy I crush on. I'm just doing research for when I finally join the family, right? Ok, fine. I'm a stalker and probably creepy. haha

I started reading the comments and noticed my friend Vicki's picture and was like what the heck is she doing on here...lol..
Kara, I feel the same way, I feel like I can't go public because I don't want people to think my blog is dumb but yet I will let my friends and family read it. I am thinking about going public though.

Love it! And you know about my blog stalking abilities... sometimes I get to a blog and have to think how I got there. I don't love the term "stalk," or "stalker," I wonder if there is another term like "friend I haven't met yet, but I sure we would be if we only knew each other!" What a fun post!
I don't think it's wierd to leave a comment on blogs that you stalk, but I think you should let them know who you are and how you found them, like if you have a friend in common. I think it's fun to get comments from people who I didn't even know read my blog. And on another note, if they don't want you to stalk them they can put up a restraining order, i.e. a private blog. So I say, stalk away.
I kept having this feeling that I was going to run into a certain ex-boyfriend I hadn't seen for over 10 years and it was freaking me out. I found his sister on fb who was friends with his wife and his wife had a link to their blog on her fb page. (I didn't have to friend them, it was not hidden.) I read all about their family and felt safely secure in the fact that they live in New Mexico. I guess that's one of the reasons my blog is private. It would freak me out to know that he could do the same thing to me. Hypocrite, I know!
I know that both Kate and Lori (yes I am calling you out) would love it if you posted on their blogs! You crack me up :)
LOL... all these comments and your post are hilarious. But hey I got your blog from Katie :) HEHE can't get rid of me now... well unless you go private and don't share like I don't know lets say KARA. Ya going to have to fix that one.
Anyway as long as you have a connection I don't think it's creepy. I guess you'll know if they think it is creepy if they delete your comment the next day.

Hi Liz! I don't know if you even remember me or not, but I actually have been checking up on your blog often! I know I should comment but I didn't want to because I didn't want you to think, "Why is she commenting on my blog, I barely knew her." haha! I am actually kind of glad you posted this. I really do like reading your blog and I do the exact same thing. I saw a woman at Kohls one day and I swear I knew her but I cannot pin point where I know her from and I bet you anything it is probably from one of the blogs I stalk! haha! I still haven't figured out how I know her though. I would love to receive nice comments from people that I don't even know who check up on my blog. I just love comments!
HELLO! You know that I love comments as much as you love comments so we should both just be commenting on each others' blogs. :) I do read yours, I am a follower so I get it updated in my reader.... but I'll be honest, I've had a winter blog reading depression. I haven't been reading anyone's blog! Stalk me all you want. :)
