Before and After

Our house has four big front windows that I love! When we moved in they were covered in these cute shades...the only problem was that all four were broken! So unless I got creative with some clothespins or something I could never see out of them.
So last month we finally got around to replacing them! They are a little more plain now, (the ones that I really wanted were a bit budget breaking!) but they have the most important part...I can open them!!
Around the same time as the new blinds I was feeling ambitious and decided to work a little HGTV magic on this chair I found at a second hand store (I also found the red rack there). I like the black but wanted to brighten the living room up a bit so I spray painted it and recovered the seat.
It is hard to see the fabric in this picture but it is a simple red, cream, blue and green stripe. I had a really hard time settling on a fabric, the first one that I bought was super cute but I was worried it was a bit to bold for my style. I decided to put it in some frames instead so the room got a touch of bold without being overwhelming.
Viola! Now my next project...make some pillows from the striped fabric. My sewing skills are almost non-existent so this one could take awhile. Right now I have pinned the fabric around a couple of pillows to make sure it will look good on the couch...if you happen to stop by and notice that they are still pinned in the next few weeks (or years!) just pretend they are finished!

Forgive me, I saw your link on Keith and Allie Nigbur's blog ... I can't NOT click on something related to "Before and After" ... it's a total habit of mine. I love what you've done here ... the blinds, the chair, everything ... very lovely. Nice work young lady.

So cute! Your motivation to finish your pillows could be when the crazy lady who buys your house puts the pillows in the offer like I did with Christine's pillows that were still pinned according to you, but were finished when I acquired them.

Your house looks so cute Liz. Maybe one of the future book clubs can be at your house then I can see the whole thing :)

Good job on those chairs ... I am incapable of doing things like that. Simple spray painting gets messed up at my house.
